Prasidh Krishna’s participation in the ODI series against New Zealand looks increasingly unlikely. The 30-year-old fast bowler is still to receive approval from the Center of Excellence (CoE), despite being conditionally selected for three of the series’ five games, which begin on November 4.
Prasidh Krishna‘s availability for the first ODI in Auckland is significantly questioned, since he is scheduled to participate in match simulations on November 1 and 2. Although the second and third ODIs are scheduled for November 7 and 10, respectively, it is uncertain whether the team management and selectors will take the chance on him in either game, which is subject to CoE clearance.
Prasidh Krishna’s inclusion in the first three ODIs was noted “subject to fitness clearance” in the BCCI’s October 16 team release. He was left out of the last two ODIs, along with a number of red-ball specialists, including skipper Shubman Gill.
Prasidh Krishna has been at the CoE since September 30, when he sustained a hamstring injury during the second ODI against the West Indies. The fact that additional tests are now scheduled for November 1 and 2 suggests that the original evaluation, which he conducted on October 22, did not produce the required results for approval.
What is the CoE’s evaluation of Prasidh Krishna’s recovery?
Prasidh Krishna has evidently experienced some anxiety while making satisfactory clinical progress, and the CoE medical staff is still monitoring his recovery and reaction. Although the situation is still being closely followed, insiders indicate the CoE’s general evaluation hasn’t been entirely negative.
The language of both comments indicates that the CoE’s major goal is to progressively raise Prasidh’s bowling workload, with the Test series against New Zealand serving as the primary benchmark for his full recovery.
Will Prasidh Krishna be able to play the Tests in New Zealand?
According to reports, skipper Shubman Gill and head coach Gautam Gambhir are eager to have Prasidh available for the two-Test series that will decide whether India advances to the World Test Championship final. Even if he is given a partial clearance, the team management may opt not to risk him in the remaining ODIs due to their importance.
Prasidh Krishna’s name on the Test squad does not have a fitness asterisk, indicating that the team management believes he is fit for the five-day format. The first Test is scheduled to begin on November 19 in Wellington, followed by the second on November 27 in Christchurch.
Prasidh Krishna may participate in the third unofficial Test between India A and a New Zealand team, which is scheduled for November 6 to 9, as a warm-up for the main series, assuming he is cleared in time. His participation in both tour versions will be contingent on if the simulations on November 1 and 2 produce the necessary results.

Despite just playing nine Test matches, Prasidh has proven to be a consistent bowler in both red-ball and white-ball formats. Following the findings of the upcoming simulation sessions at the CoE, it is expected that his availability for the New Zealand Tests will become clear in the following days.
